Barkley Set For Medicals After Chelsea Agree £15m Deal With Everton

05 January 2018

Chelsea have agreed a fee, reportedly around £15m, with Everton for Barkley and the midfielder will be undergoing a medical with the Premier League champions ahead of completing his switch. The midfielder will have a medical at the club on Friday and will complete the move from his boyhood club Everton in the coming days.

New boss Sam Allardyce has always been resigned to the playmaker's departure and Tottenham were expected to rival Chelsea for Barkley.

Sources told ESPN FC at the time that Chelsea did not believe they had been rejected by Barkley - who is in the final year of his contract with Everton - and would not be deterred from making a renewed approach in January as they look to bolster their squad depth and home-grown contingent.

Barkley is all-but recovered from a serious hamstring injury that has forced him to watch the first few months of the season from the sidelines.

Barkley, capped 22 times by England, has previously expressed a desire to play Champions League football and will be eligible to play for Chelsea in their last-16 clash against Barcelona in February.

Troy Terry Named to US Olympic Team
There will be two more goaltenders added to the roster "later in January", according to USA Hockey . Olympic hockey team at the Winter Olympics, which will be the first without NHL players since 1994.

Sky Sports claim that Spurs are no longer in the race to sign the Everton midfielder as manager Mauricio Pochettino has turned his attention to other targets.

"I would expect there would be sometime in this window if there is going to be any interest from some of the big boys", he said.

They would also argue that with Barkley out of the side this season, his absence has not hampered their performances - particularly since Allardyce took over from Koeman.

It will mean the player is leaving Goodison Park after 13 years, having joined Everton as an 11-year-old in 2005.
