The latest Nintendo Switch hack paves the way for homebrew software

03 January 2018

Given the Nintendo's Switch's small internal storage space, it's likely that games for Switch have sold better physically than they do on other consoles.

Unsurprisingly, the Nintendo Switch was also the best-selling console of the year on Amazon, despite issues with supply earlier in 2017.

Among the games that are a potential contender for the Direct include Super Smash Bros. and Pokemon for the Nintendo Switch. We are proud to award Nintendo with the titles of Shacknews Best Developer and Publisher of the Year. But it's worth noting the exploit and subsequent homebrew will only work on Switch consoles running firmware version 3.0.0.

"I think there are lots of models that seem to be working", Trepanier said. And when you have a platform that is in the hands of kids and families then it opens up new opportunities for any game developers to access new markets.
