Mariah Carey earns reported $3.5m for NYE Times Square performance

Last year, the pop icon made headlines for all the wrong reasons after a botched performance on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest, when technical difficulties led the diva to exit the stage in frustration and disgust.

As we nervously awaited to find out the fate of the New Year, with many speculating that her performance would be a tell-tale sign of how 2018 would go overall, Carey remained cool as a cucumber (literally - it was reportedly 9 degrees with a minus 4 wind chill).

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve airs live December 31 starting at 8 p.m. ET from New York's Times Square.

Carey, who performed "Vision of Love" and "Hero" during her triumphant return to the annual show, had expressed her disappointment during her set when tea wasn't available.

"They told me I would get hot tea". "Oh, it's a disaster".

Several allies are also concerned as the system can not be integrated into NATO's existing military architecture. Under an accord signed in Ankara on Friday, the first delivery is planned for March 2020.

"Okay, well we'll just have to rough it", she added. "I'm gonna be like everybody else with no hot tea".

Mariah Carey's 2018 got off to a much better start than her 2017 did.

Last year's show ended in disaster when the track for her 1991 hit Emotions malfunctioned during her performance.

Mariah Carey's second attempt at ringing in the New Year is fraught with peril and ice. Seacrest asked Carey how she felt. Some critics complained because Mariah didn't hit her signature high notes, but we can safely assume that was because she didn't have enough hot tea to lubricate her vocal cords.

The awkwardness increased exponentially from there, as Carey stood onstage without singing, throwing slight asides to the audience like, "We didn't have a sound check but it's New Year's, baby, that's OK, you guys", and "I'm trying to be a good sport here".
