Meryl Streep recently fired back at Rose McGowan after the actress accused her of siding with Harvey Weinstein. "You may take below the belt shots at us but we will not take them at you in return". "This is beneath you, Rose", Tamblyn tweeted on Sunday, December 17.
Meryl Streep responded Monday to Rose McGowan accusing her and other actresses of staying silent during producer Harvey Weinstein's decades of sexually abusing of women.
The 44-year-old had blasted Streep saying she will never effect real change as she is happy accepting "fake" awards.
McGowan had suggested that Streep wear Marchesa, a high-end womenswear brand co-founded by Weinstein's estranged wife Georgina Chapman, who announced she was leaving her husband after the allegations surfaced.
"Rose assumed and broadcast something untrue about me, and I wanted to let her know the truth", she wrote, adding that she had passed on her phone number to McGowan through friends after seeing the tweet.
John Terry's All-Time Premier League XI Includes Eight Man United Players
Christensen, 21, was recalled from loan at the start of this season and is now established at the heart of the defence. John Terry named eight Manchester United players in his all-time Premier League XI on Monday night.
McGowan was reacting to reports that a group of actresses will wear black on the red carpet of the 2017 Golden Globe Awards as part of a "silent protest" to condemn sexual harassment and rape in show business. I don't like young women being assaulted.
But speaking out this weekend landed her in some hot water with her friend and fellow actress Amber Tamblyn.
McGowan - who has accused Weinstein of raping her in the 1990s - has become one of the most outspoken celebrity figures in the scandal. I despise your hypocrisy.
Despite having worked on several films with Weinstein, including Iron Lady and August: Osage County, Streep said in a statement to the Huffington Post in October that "not everybody knew" of the sexual harassment allegations against him.
Tamblyn responded that because McGowan's original statement was "public and hurtful", she felt the need to address the comment in a public way. You actually gave me a body flashback. When she won the Golden Globe for her role in the film, Streep jokingly called Weinstein "god" in her acceptance speech. "Just wearing black dresses doesn't halt anything and the offenders aren't going to care about all-black ensemble, but they'd care if the women refused to make money for them #hitthemwhereithurts", said one person in reply to McGowan's tweet.
