WWE Announces First Ever All Women's Royal Rumble Match For 2018

19 December 2017

On today's episode of Monday Night Raw, Stephanie McMahon announced that this January, for the very first time, the WWE will hold a women's Royal Rumble Match. WWE is committed to family friendly entertainment on its television programming, pay-per-view, digital media and publishing platforms.

WWE SmackDown Live will be broadcast on the USA Network beginning at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday, Jan. 2 from the Amway Center in Orlando.

Following the conclusion of Monday Night Raw this week, the Raw commissioner released a statement on the big announcement she made on the show, which also explained what the eventual victor of the Women's Royal Rumble would be receiving and the other historic moments WWE has created for Women's wrestling over the past few years.

Now, to cap off 2017, Stephanie McMahon announced to the world that for the first time ever, the Women of the WWE will compete in their own Royal Rumble match.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lauded the recognition as a "historic day" that is an "important step toward peace". Mayor Ali Salam, a Muslim, ordered all artistic events to be canceled - including a festival and large Christmas market.

The main event match of the annual show - now approaching its 31st iteration - is a sprawling, 30-person over the top rope Royal Rumble battle royal (say that ten times quickly) with a championship match at WrestleMania going to the victor. Female performers are role models, inspiring and empowering women and girls to be confident and strong.

As it has been for the last couple of decades, the victor of the Royal Rumble will earn a world title match, either facing the Universal or WWE champion at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. This would be Elias' first Royal Rumble appearance.
