In a fresh twist to the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, the Sunni Waqf Board on Wednesday disassociated itself from senior advocate Kapil Sibal's arguments in the Supreme Court, seeking postponement of hearing in the matter till the 2019 elections.
"Congress is clear that the matter is before the Supreme Court and our party will support whatever the court says".
"Yes Kapil Sibal is our lawyer but he is also related to a political party, his statement in SC yesterday was wrong, we want a solution to the issue at the earliest", news agency ANI quoted Sunni Waqf Board member Haji Mehboob as saying.
"The board is of the view that hearing in the case be held and the matter be disposed of promptly".
The Sunni Waqf Board dissociated itself from Sibal's suggestion. "Who he represents in court is Kapil Sibal's personal matter", Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had said. "I do not know on whose behalf the counsel for the Muslims appearing in the apex court Kapil Sibal stated this".Читайте также: Three Dead, Several Injured in New Mexico High School Shooting
"I want to question the Congress Party and explain if it wants the Ram Janmbhoomi matter to be heard at the earliest or not", he asked. He also took a potshot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he should get his facts right before making any comments.
Kapil Sibal appeared in Babri Masjid title suit in Supreme Court.
Addressing BJP workers during his Gujarat election campaign in Dahod, Modi said, "The Sunni Waqf Board must be congratulated for their fearless stand and for disassociating themselves from the statement of Kapil Sibal". A list showing which lawyer appeared for which side, part of the very same December 5 order sheet, showed that the prominent lawyer appeared for UP Sunni Waqf Board, whose civil appeal has been numbered "4192" of 2011. The Congress vice president had put out a tweet on Tuesday carrying erroneous percentages to depict a rise in the prices of essential commodities in a graphic and asked the prime minister whether his government was "for the rich". "With full confidence, we can say that we completely endorse what Sibal said", Jilani said.
"Now Congress links Ram Mandir with elections".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
