Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday (01/12) that a United States threat to destroy North Korea in the event of a war was "a bloodthirsty tirade" and that military action against Pyongyang would be a big mistake, Russian news agencies reported.
North Korea claimed that the tested ballistic missile is a new type of Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) that is capable of reaching USA mainland.
"If someone really wants to use force to, as the U.S. representative to the United Nations put it, destroy North Korea.then I think that is playing with fire and a big mistake", said Lavrov, the Russian news agencies reported.
Top generals from the United States and Chinese armed forces met in Washington this week following North Korea's latest missile provocation.
Russian Federation is setting the stage for sidelining the United States in the North Korean nuclear crisis that has been escalating for roughly four months, during which the administration of President Donald Trump has relied primarily on threats of total annihilation, sanctions, and name-calling.
Speaking at the UNSC on Wednesday, Haley warned that North Korea's government will be "utterly destroyed" if a war breaks out. If they are really looking for an excuse to destroy North Korea, as the United States envoy to the UN said at a Security Council meeting, let them spell it out clearly and let the USA leadership confirm it.Читайте также: Apple's Spaceship better look out, Microsoft is modernizing its headquarters too
"We are really asking them please restrain more oil, not take it off completely - that was the most effective tool the last time North Korea came to the table was cutting the oil off", Tillerson told reporters.
North Korea, in an announcement broadcast on state TV, said this week it had successfully tested a new type of intercontinental ballistic missile called Hwasong-15.
Russian Federation on Wednesday condemned the latest missile launch by North Korea, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Americans must first of all explain to us what they are trying to achieve", Lavrov added. Haley accused Kim Jong Un of bringing the world "closer to war" with its recent missile test. "We were hopeful about the approach, but then they stage [an] unscheduled exercise in October, then in November, and now they have declared they will have [a] large-scale unscheduled exercise in December".
Moscow sells oil products to North Korea and thousands of North Korean workers toil in Russian Federation, sending remittances back to the authorities in Pyongyang. "We do not see any reasonable alternative to it", it said.
