The option will reportedly add more items later.
"Undoubtedly, Wal-Mart did the math and logistical mapping to arrive at the conclusion that streamlining and even encouraging in-store returns is preferable to taking them in through shipments", Spieckerman said.
As shoppers continue to demand that every aspect of their experience be quick, easy and free of friction, Walmart has been transforming retail with unique, technology-powered offerings like Online Grocery Pickup, Pickup Towers, Mobile Express Money Services and free two-day shipping without a membership fee. And, it seems the big-box retailer is onto something. Store purchases should be integrated into the system by early 2018.
The big-box giant plans to roll out a program next month called Mobile Express Returns that will let customers refund online orders in seconds by scanning auto-generated QR codes in any of Walmart's almost 5,000 stores.

Refunds will be credited to the customer's payment account as soon as the next day.
Further, the company said it would add 1,000 online grocery locations in Walmart U.S. Consumers who shop third-party sellers on Walmart.com will have to wait a bit longer, as the mass merchant is still trying to determine how to make that work. Through the Wal-Mart app, a shopper may receive an instant refund on some purchases without having to return anything to the store.
The company claims the streamlined new approach will slash the time it takes to return an item from roughly five minutes to just 30 seconds. This will include items damaged during delivery, or delivered not as described such as off foods and opened makeup. First, the customer will have to initiate the return process on their phones using the mobile app before they go to the app. At the store, you can fast-track through the line via a Mobile Express Lane at the customer service desk. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has a 1-year low of $65.28 and a 1-year high of $81.99. Nearly one-third of items ordered online are returned, compared with just 8 percent of things bought in physical stores, according to Optoro Inc., which works for Wal-Mart's e-commerce unit Jet.com to process returns. The company has said it will handle returns in 35 or less. Come December, items that Wal-Mart would otherwise discard if returned may be kept, whilst refunds will still be provided.
