Southgate admits England must be better despite Slovenia win

The Scots, missing from the World Cup since 1998, will be guaranteed second place in Europe's Group F and a potential place in the play-offs if they beat Slovenia on Sunday.

The England manager added playing under Pep Guardiola at City would help Sterling's development even further.

England Captain Harry Kane scored a late win for Gareth Southgate's side.

"We come off the back of what happened in the last European Championships with the change of coach, a lot of difficulties throughout the campaign, but we're there and we look to where we can improve all the time".

England now lead Group F, and can do Ireland a big favour by beating Slovenia tonight at Wembley. England is now undefeated in qualifying with six wins and two draws, putting them five points ahead of second-placed Slovakia. The Three Lions needed a victory to guarantee their qualification for the World Cup but were very, very, very, very poor, and only in the 94th minute they were able to get a goal thanks to a Kyle Walker assist.

Kane, who entered the clash in blistering form having netted 13 goals in his last eight matches, drifted inside on 14 minutes but saw his long-range shot comfortably grasped by Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Police searched the guard's home and found many jugs of alcohol. "As the children were bigger a lot of them were able to escape". Mr Temer said that, as the father of a school-age child, he understood this must be an extremely painful loss for the parents.

England are going to the World Cup in Russian Federation next summer!

While the quality of the performances has left a lot to be desired, England have developed a knack of scoring late goals throughout the qualifying campaign - namely a last-ditch victor away to Slovakia, a late Kane equaliser in Scotland and now the England captain's last-gap intervention at Wembley.

"For me Kane will play every game and it's important that whoever wears that armband will be starting most of the games".

Croatia host fifth-placed Finland, while Iceland, who made their major tournament debut at Euro 2016, visit Turkey as Ukraine travel to bottom side Kosovo.

"If you put Marcus Rashford and Kane up front, with Kane's guile and everything and Rashford's pace, we'll petrify teams".
