North Sinai Bombing Kills at Least 15 Egypt Security Personnel

State news agency MENA quoted a high ranking ministry official confirming the attack and casualty figures. Four armored vehicles and a fifth carrying signal-jamming equipment were destroyed while a police pickup truck was commandeered, they said.

Security forces had received information that a number of militants who escaped the restive North Sinai were hiding out in two apartments in Agouza and were planning a number of attacks in central governorates.

At least 18 Egyptian security personnel were killed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on Monday when their vehicles struck a series of roadside bombs, according to local security sources.

The group considers the army and police apostates who should be killed for the sake of creating an Islamic Caliphate.
