Texas levee breached; residents told to 'get out now!'

31 August 2017

Levees at Columbia Lakes in Brazoria County have been breached, according to the official Brazoria County website.

The city's largest shelter, the George R. Brown Convention Center, held more than 9,000 people, nearly twice the number officials originally planned to house there. A Houston hotel said one of its employees disappeared while helping about 100 guests and workers evacuate the building.

After days of heavy rain, the Addicks and Barker reservoirs are at record high levels.

A mandatory evacuation was ordered for the low-lying Houston suburb of Dickinson, home to 20,000, and questions swirled in Houston itself about why the mayor did not issue a similar evacuation order.

Two Houston reservoirs are also overflowing, despite a controlled water release that aimed to prevent flooding downtown.

More than 30 inches of rain has fallen in some areas of Houston after Tropical Storm Harvey parked over the area.

Russian Federation scandal turns in a direction Trump will not like
Trump has consistently denied any connections between himself, his campaign, and Russian business or collusion attempts. In his statement, Cohen downplayed the comments Sater made in email correspondence about the Trump Tower Moscow deal.

A warning was posted on Twitter saying, "The levee at Columbia Lakes has been breached!"

The catastrophic flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey isn't over yet.

He said residents were told that at some point the levee would be "overtopped".

Houston emergency officials could not confirm the deaths. "All the roads around us are flooded". In 1994, a pipeline ruptured on the river near Interstate 10 and caught fire. But he planned to return to the region Saturday to meet with some of the victims, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

Harvey has already set a new continental United States rainfall record since it made landfall Friday.

You can listen to what the judge has to say about the breaking news in the video below. Since then, it's dumped 49 inches of water on the city and has led to many being forced from their homes.
