Micromax Canvas Infinity First Impressions: More screen per phone

The handset will be available exclusively on Amazon India from September 1 onwards.

The Canvas Infinity smartphone runs Android Nougat out of the box and the company promised Android "O" update for the device as soon as the update is available from Google and chipset manufacturer.

Micromax launched its latest smartphone "Canvas Infinity" in India, its first 18:9 display-screen smartphone that aims to create an impressive viewing experience.

As the name suggests - Canavas Infinity by Micromax is expected to come with Galaxy S8 like infinity display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Another best part about the phone is the 32GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB with a dedicated microSD card slot. It sports a 13-megapixels rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and auto HDR. For connectivity, this phone offers options of 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, Global Positioning System and USB OTG. The Canvas Infinity is backed by a 2,900 mAh battery and the fingerprint sensor is placed at the back.

The company, which will compete with the likes of Samsung, Xioami and Micromax in India, aims to capture 5 per cent market share in three years of operations here. On the front, it has 16 megapixels camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 81.5-degree FOV, 5P lens and 1080p video recording.

CNBC reports that "DJ Koh, the president of Samsung's mobile division, said a smart speaker was on the way". In South Korea, the feature has 1.3 million users and has accumulated 250 million voice commands so far.

Micromax Canvas Infinity phone is featured with 5.5 inches 18:9 display.

The Micromax Canvas Infinity has an HD+ screen resolution, with 720×1440 pixels.

The handset supports Dual SIM with 4G VoLTE connectivity. There is a 16 MP front camera that offers real time bokeh effect, which blurs the background and sharpens the focus on the object.

The battery is a 2,900 mAh unit. At Rs 9,999, the Micromax Canvas Infinity is the cheapest device in the market with an 18:9 display. Micromax is also offering a 24-hour fix or replace policy across select Micromax express service centers.

Micromax was one of the biggest home-grown brands when it comes to the Indian smartphone industry.

The Snapdragon 425 is a low-power processor and is outclassed by the one in the similarly priced Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
