Proceedings end for day in Taylor Swift groping case

10 August 2017

Swift, one of the most successful contemporary music artists, earned $170 million between June 2015 and June 2016, following a world tour and her best-selling "1989" album, Forbes Magazine said.

She is "not trying to bankrupt this man", Swift's attorney said.

The "Shake It Off" and "Bad Blood" singer argues that a verdict in her favor will serve as an example for other women who might fear coming forward in similar circumstances. "Any woman-rich, poor, famous or not-is entitled to have that not happen". She is expected to testify later in the trial. When a Swift employee ushered Mueller into a booth for a routine photo shoot, the singer bonded more intensely with his girlfriend, fellow KYGO employee Shannon Melcher.

Mueller's lawyer showed the eight jurors the photograph which was taken at the time of the alleged assault.

"It was not an accident, it was completely intentional, and I have never been so sure of anything in my life", Swift said in a deposition.

Two years after the incident, he sued Taylor, her mom and her management team of slander and getting him fired.

Baldridge stressed the absence of evidence from Mueller's various broken electronic devices, as well as his prior conflict with Haskell (a self-described "vindictive" person, per Mueller) and his relegation to the public, not media, photo-booth line at that 2013 concert that made him feel ignored by Swift. Bell and Andrea Swift are also defendants in Mueller's lawsuit.

"It's a humiliating experience to be accused of something that despicable", Mueller testified, claiming he's been unable to find a job since his dismissal.

Baldridge did get Mueller to concede that various supervisors with KYGO and its parent firm had discussed the possibility of letting him go even before the encounter with Swift.

Mueller, 55, has denied her allegations and also says they led to him losing his job.

David Mueller was sacked from two jobs prior to his termination by KYGO over an allegation that he groped Taylor Swift before a Denver concert, he testified Wednesday under questioning by Swift's lawyer. He is seeking at least $3 million.

Baldridge then asks Mueller if he can see that Haskell's fist is above Swift's waist in the photo, which is indeed the case, and which Mueller also confirms. She requested just $1 in damages.

Her lawyer said in his opening statement at the court in Denver, Colorado, that Mr Mueller had "grabbed her rear end". Swift is due to give evidence later this week. Mueller had sent parts of the tape to his attorneys to back up his claims but Mueller ultimately destroyed or disposed of the multiple devices the conversation was stored on.

The 27-year-old pop star maintains that backstage at one of her concerts in 2013, he reached under her dress and grabbed her butt while they posed for a photo together. He did admit he may have accidentally touched her ribs. "It's not ruffled, rumpled, affected in any form or fashion", McFarland said.

Baldridge will continue cross examining Mueller on Wednesday.
