JD(U), RJD heading towards split, indicates BJP

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is yet to react on Lalu's declaration, but his body language on Saturday spoke volumes when he graced an official function which was also scheduled to be attended by Tejashwi who did not turn up.

Lalu Prasad Yadav had recently announced that his younger son Tejashwi Yadav will not resign from his post of Uttar Prasesh Deputy Chief Minister. The Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal is adamant that Tejashwi won't resign.

However, it was still unclear whether she had asked Lalu Prasad to ask his son to quit to save the alliance from breaking.

He, however, said that he would not know if Sonia Gandhi had spoken to Nitish Kumar. She spoke to CM Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and requested them not to do anything that would break the Mahagatbandhan (JD (U)-RJD-Congress).

If Congress' mediation succeeds, we may expect this outcome. Earlier this week, Nitish had chaired a crucial meeting of JD (U) MLAs, office bearers and district chiefs.
