Roger Federer vs Milos Raonic Quarter Finals Wimbledon Men's Singles 2017

13 July 2017

The greatest player of all-time had little trouble against last year's finalist Milos Raonic, beating the Canadian 6-4 6-3 7-6. "It's always calibrating the whole thing".

Murray and Djokovic have both turned 30 and while these days that no longer signals a downturn, Federer had some sage advice.

A year ago, Raonic beat Federer in the semi-final before losing to eventual champion Andy Murray in the final.

"Sometimes maybe the body and the mind do need a rest". I hope that Novak's OK with his injury. So one must wonder if they, too, are asking themselves (and their trainers and orthopedic surgeons) the same questions.

For Federer, more than surgery (his orthoscopic knee surgery last February was the first of his career), more than physical therapy - more than anything, really - his willingness to step away from the game to allow his body and mind to fix and recharge could be the difference maker in extending his career.

Federer will face Berdych in Friday's semifinal with Marin Cilic and Sam Querrey contesting the other, leaving the 35-year-old looking a strong bet to make history and claim a record eighth title at the All England Club - especially in this form. "It's far removed from the last time we played", Raonic said. The grass-court season was hard because of the back issues I had, and the knee issues. I don't feel ready to go. I'm just very happy that I'm still doing so well.

The proof is in his results.

Congress makes u-turn; Accepts Rahul Gandhi met Chinese envoy
I met the Chinese ambassador, ex-NSA (Shiv Shankar Menon), Congress leaders from the Northeast & the Bhutanese ambassador. Amid the growing Sikkim standoff, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi met Chinese envoy Luo Zhaohui, confirmed Congress.

Federer has already trimmed back his schedule, skipping the 2016 and 2017 French Opens which were won by Djokovic and Nadal.

"Last year I had a hard, hard time practicing through the clay-court season".

Federer was making his 100th appearance at Wimbledon and based on this few would back him matching Jimmy Connors' all-time record of 102 by reaching this year's final.

The third set was the closest of the three and, after an hour and 10 minutes, Raonic earned his first break point.

Defending champion Andy Murray will open play on Centre Court against Sam Querrey.

Djokovic, the three-time victor, quit after two games of the second set of his quarter-final against Berdych with a right elbow injury.

"I think the most significant thing is he's mentally sharper and I think he's moving better", Raonic added.
