Yoga belongs to whole world, says Sushma Swaraj

IT major HCL on Wednesday invited guests for short talk on yoga, held meditation sessions and also made employees take pledge to include yoga in their routines. Yoga became an integral part of every Indian home and connected the world with this country, said the head of government shortly before starting an exercise session along with another 50,000 people, despite the rain.

He said that yoga is an integral part of the Indian tradition and it unites the country.

Participating in the International Day of Yoga at Exposition Hall, NER Agri Expo Site, Dimapur, Rudy expressed pleasure at the turnout of people even as the programme was organized within a short span of time. Social media was flooded with pictures of yoga, the country's signature cultural export, being performed in various places including an Indian Navy submarine and the landing deck of an aircraft carrier.

He lauded the Prime Minister's initiative and said that because of him, Yoga was not just being practiced in United Nations, but the whole world.

Coming all the way from Misrikh city in neighbouring Sitapur district, 20-year-old Prensha was thrilled to perform yoga aasanas so close to the PM. This International Yoga Day she posted a video on Instagram in which she was performing the lovely asana of Bakasana.

At Connaught Place in the Indian capital, several dignitaries, including Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, NDA Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal performed various postures of Yoga with people.

Enthusiasts across India rose at the crack of dawn, many braving monsoon showers, to mark the third International Yoga Day.

As participants at the sprawling Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan used mats to cover themselves from the rain, Modi chuckled: "I knew yoga benefits very well but Lucknowites today taught me the benefits and use of yoga mats as well". Ladies and children of the Coast Guard fraternity were seen performing yoga asanas with zeal and elan. "Similarly, Yoga was born in India, it was given by our rishis and munis, but its transformations and teachings are for all", Sadhvi added.

She said that Yoga was born in India, but it is meant for the whole world.
