Madras PhD scholar 'beaten up' over participating in beef festival

Amid mounting protest across the country to condemn the Union Government's decision to ban the sale of cows and buffaloes for slaughter, a group of students in IIT-M allegedly organised a beef fest in the campus on last Sunday to oppose Centre's move on cattle trade.

A group of 70 to 80 students held the beef festivalon Sunday evening to demonstrate against the Centre's notification and underline that they had a right to choose their own food.
